As a total introvert writing this, Iโm completely in my element right now, but if another three weeks of isolation is filling you with utter dread, itโs time to get socially savvy!
I think itโs safe to say most of us are spending more time than ever on our phones, getting the dreaded notification that our weekly screen time has increased by a billion hours, right? Quite an achievement since most of us are glued to our phones 99 per cent of the time anyway.
Thatโs why itโs so important โ particularly during difficult times like this โ to scroll for inspiration, not just boredom.
The good news is that Instagram can be a wonderfully positive distraction, inspiring us to use our time in quarantine to set and smash our goals. Alongside tagging your friends in memes and taking part in all the challenges circulating right now (has everyone done their 5K for the NHS yet?!), why not tap the follower button on the below accounts, which inspire me every day with a new post.
Hello Sunshine (@hellosunshine)
A television production company founded by Oscar-winning actress, Reese Witherspoon, is one of my favourite accounts on the gram! Hello Sunshine is on a mission to change the narrative for women in the media, creating a platform for female storytelling through film and television.
Itโs a gorgeous account, full of bright colours and inspirational quotes, but also serves a greater purpose of pushing for equality and ensuring womenโs voices are heard. Seriously, whatโs not to love?
Follow for: An abundance of encouraging quotes, sneak previews of upcoming epic TV shows and pretty pictures of books!
Cleo Wade (@cleowade)
Cleo Wade is an American artist, poet, activists and author. Sheโs also been described as โeverybodyโs new BFFโ and โthe millennial Oprahโ, so I think itโs safe to say sheโs pretty great.
One of the many things I love about Cleo is how relatable she is. Her writing is empowering, yet accessible and advocates for a better future forย all,ย including people of colour and the LGBTQ+ community.
Cleoโs Instagram is full of examples of her poetry and artwork, which always inspires me to put pen to paper myself. For all the budding creatives out there, a quick scroll of Cleoโs Instagram is almost certain to get you working on a new project or give you some inspiration on an existing one.
Follow for: Exquisite poetry and warm words of encouragement if youโre struggling with self-isolation.
Victoria Magrathโs home account (@frowhome)
One of my favourite ways to use Instagram is to scroll through home interior accounts, discovering the latest design trends and hacks, and making lots of grand plans for my rather modest house. @frowhome is owned by award-winning lifestyle blogger, Victoria Magrath and details her journey renovating a house in the English countryside.
Victoriaโs taste is classic, crisp and quintessentially British, which I absolutely adore. Her colour palettes are always on point and her photography skills are phenomenal, making for a brilliant Instagram feed that strikes the perfect balance between aspirational and enjoyable.
If youโre looking to do any home renovations in the coming weeks, or simply want to get creative but arenโt quite sure how, following @frowhome is a must.
Follow for: interiors inspiration, home renovation ideas and lots and lots of pretty pictures.
The Happy Sloth Club (@thehappyslothclub)
The premise behind this account was to set out to support people experiencing a deterioration in their mental health. With a promise to spread positivity only, the account is filled with beautifully designed quotes and words to motivate and inspire followers, whilst also recommending self-help activities.
If youโre looking for a few words of encouragement during this time, or just want to scroll through some pretty illustrations, this account is the one for you.
Follow for: words of wisdom, dog cartoons and a daily reminder to celebrate your achievements
The Mindful Chef (@mindfulchefuk)
Mindful Chef is a business that delivers healthy recipe boxes, frozen meals and smoothies to customers around the UK. During this time, the account has taken to sharing recipe and meal ideas from family favourites to more adventurous choices.
They believe that just because we canโt we travel at the moment, it doesnโt mean we canโt explore the world from our kitchens โ so very true! So, if youโre getting sick of rustling up the same old meals each week, have a scroll through Mindful Chef for some inspiration. If anything takes your liking, and you donโt fancy the one hour supermarket queue, you can also order a fresh box of ingredients right to your door.
Follow for: mouth-watering recipes, wonderful photography and some good old-fashioned food porn!
So, thatโs your lot for now! Please let us know if there are any accounts youโre following now for your daily dose of inspo, weโd love to hear how youโre scrolling too.
