The brief

4th Utility is an independent Internet Service Provider delivering ultrafast, full fibre connectivity to homes and businesses across the UK. Operating in a highly competitive market, the brand sought to highlight their unique selling point—the lowest-priced Social Tariff available, specifically designed for low-income families—as well as its numerous initiatives to bridge the nation’s Digital Divide.

To support these objectives, we developed a comprehensive PR strategy aimed at both trade and national press to enhance brand visibility of both the Social Tariff offering and the other local and nationwide initiatives it was looking to promote. Additionally, we created an engaging weekly social media content plan centred around core content pillars, ensuring consistent and impactful communication with their target audience.

What we did

PR outreach and link acquisition:

  • We crafted a strong outreach strategy, targeting local and national press in areas where 4th Utility provides full fibre broadband.
  • Our PR team worked with 4th Utility to create newsworthy content, ‘newsjack’ relevant trends to gain media coverage, conduct a national business survey and promote the firm’s Social Tariff offering.
  • This helped us in securing both print and online press, achieving valuable high DA links in trade, local and national press, and driving traffic to our engaging landing pages.
  • Going head-to-head against some of the UK’s biggest, most well-known brands, we supported 4th Utility on their application for the country’s top customer service awards. With No Brainer’s assistance, the firm won Gold in the Best On-Site Customer Experience category at the 2023 UK Customer Experience Awards, celebrating their ambitious project to bring full-fibre broadband to an underserved area of the UK. The awards win also supplemented our PR strategy, as we secured coverage in regional and trade press, including Computer Weekly.

Social media content support:

  • No Brainer managed all social media content across multiple channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and X).
  • We developed compelling content aligned with 4th Utility’s branding, including graphics, copy, and polls.
  • This approach to our social media strategy effectively engaged our target audience and expanded our follower base.

The results

Our strategy successfully drove new users to 4th Utility’s core product offerings and boosted engagement across all social media channels.

Result highlights include:

  • 119 published articles across national, regional, trade and broadcast
  • 2.3b reach
  • +114% increase in website users
  • +94% increase in page views
